Dear GSK:

I’ve been using Wellbutrin SR as a way to help quit smoking. I’ve been a hardcore smoker for the past 15 years, and I am glad to say that it works like a charm. I’ll admit, I had my doubts as to whether it would work or not. I’ve tried for years to quite, but finally I can say I have.

But, to be quite honest, I have been experiencing a severe side affect, and I was hoping you could let me know if others have reported this. Due to the sensitive nature of what I am about to tell you, I find it easier to write to you, than to call you. Please let me know if this is something I should consult with my doctor.

You see, about two weeks into taking your pills, not only did I no longer crave cigarettes, but it kind of also put the kibosh on my interest in street drugs. I’ve dabbled with marijuana and cocaine over the past few years, and it is not something I have any intention of giving up. But now, the mere thought of letting them into my system makes me feel ill.

As you may be aware of, drug users often have a certain circle of friends they hang out with, and my inability to party with my friends has somewhat ousted me from circles. So, to put it bluntly, it is not only affecting me physically, but also socially. As a brokerage consultant, many of my fellow colleagues partake in this type of behavior, and I find myself now isolated around the office.

Please write back to me and let me know if others have reported similar symptyms. Again, is this something I should be consulting with my doctor?

In anticipation of your reply,
