Dear JEI/Chia Pet:
My family and I have had a Chia Pet Ram, “Shelley”, for almost a year. My children love it and consider cherish as a child does any pet. I have never had the heart to tell them that for almost a year, I had been switching the Chia Pet each week for almost a month with another one, constantly swapping a dying one, for a newly sprouted one. I stocked up on over 30 of them when I realized just how attached my children were to them and how low the shelf life was.
Well recently, I was out of town and my son Petey came home to discover the Ram dead. I’m sure you can imagine the devastation the loss of a pet can create in a child (especially as close to Christmas as it has been). It had been my wife’s responsibility to replace the pet before the children had discovered it, but unfortunately we had run out and she had been unable to find one of the similar breed anywhere around town.
So we recently had a burial for our beloved Shelley in our back yard (no easy feat as it is -30 degrees here).
I was hoping you could maybe send the children some kind words or words of inspiration for their recent loss. As manufacturers of this product, I am sure you can empathize with the loss that is being experienced members of my family. Please reply as quickly as you can! And thank you for the year of happiness your company has given us!
