Dear CMS:
I can not stress enough how important I have always believed that math is. Math, in my opinion, is a vital tool for not only every day activities, but also understanding the world around us. It is one of the reasons I went on to become a math teacher at a private high school.
I remember sitting in school and hearing kids say that the stuff we were learning was useless and that they didn’t need math to get by. Well those are the type of people who ended up becoming drug dealers.
Which really upsets me because the other day I called up my dealer Les and I said that I wanted 7 times what I bought yesterday (I bought a gram the day before). Unfortunately, with the laws the way they are, I had to talk in this manner, rather than simply say I want 7 grams or 1/4.
Well when I met up with Les, it turns out he had brought 8 grams. He had inadvertently added the one from the day before and the seven I wanted that day. Well when I stated that I wanted only 7, he got rather upset and demanded that I pay for all eight. Refusing to back down, I told him to go to hell, and take math classes while he was there.
Now I don’t have a dealer, and it is all because people don’t take the time to verse themselves with math.
Anyways, please write back to me and let me know you received this letter. It is always nice to hear from people who understand and appreciate mathematics as a necessity. Feel free to include any personal incites you have on math and the world at large.
