Dear Sir or Madam:

My name is NAME USED, and I have been a large consumer of McDonalds' food for a large portion of my life. Ever since I was a child, driving by those gold arches always brought a smile to my face. Infact, I even have a ring on my finger that resembles the golden arches (it is my 'lucky ring').

I was recently encouraged by one of my high school teachers to write a letter as a part of a creative writing project. This letter was supposed to be sent out to someone who has had a pivotal role in our life, and it was to be composed of questions we have always wanted to ask the person or persons. So, I have decided to write you, and ask the questions that have boggled me for years concerning your company. I hope that this letter has reached the appropriate extension, and if not, could you please pass it on to the correct department. Thank you. These are my questions…

Why does McDonalds not serve hotdogs? It would seem on sensible since hotdogs and hamburgers go together like mustard and ham. Why do you choose to use the colors Red and Yellow as your primary promotion colors? Is it used as a metaphor for condiments (like ketchup and mustard)? What exactly is 'Grimace'? He closely resembles Barney (but more out-of-shape), but he is definitely not a dinosaur. Why don't you serve that BBQ burger anymore? It was once the selection of the month (in 1995 I believe), but I have not seen it return (I loved that burger). I hate to be an advocate for 'political correctness', but isn't using the "Hamburglar" a bit impressionable towards children (and glorify theft)? How long has McDonalds had locations in Canada?

If you could extend me the courtesy to answer my questions (as weird as they may sound) I would be most appreciative. My reply from the company or person is counted in my final grade for the course, so if you could reply promptly, it would help me out a great deal !

Sincerely yours,

Dear Diane:

I am writing you another letter to thank you for writing back to me. It is great to know that certain companies are available to me; the individual. There are some questions and concerns I have about your letter that I was hoping you could help me with:

In my previous letter (which is attached for quick reference) I posed several questions. In your reply, not all of them were addressed. I take full blame for this. I realize that the text size I used for my original letter was a mere size 10 text, whereas you must be used to text that is size 12 (I assume this since your letter was written in size 12 text). You probably missed some of the questions because of the smaller size text. I have realized the error of my ways, and have placed the questions below, using a size 12 text.

These are the questions left unanswered: Why does your company choose to use the colors Red and Yellow as your primary promotion colors? Is it used as a metaphor for condiments (like ketchup and mustard)? ). I hate to be an advocate for 'political correctness', but isn't using the Hamburglar a bit impressionable towards children and glorify theft (I pose this question not for a factual answer, but merely for your opinion on the matter)? How long has McDonalds had locations in Canada?

Since reading your last letter, one other question has arisen: You mentioned that Grimace personifies 'the child in everyone'. Is this to say that the child in everyone is a large, purple, unbalanced creature that walks with a rolling gait?

I understand the limited knowledge that customer service personal have, so if you are unable to answer any of the questions, could your please inform me in your response to me. I really appreciate the vouchers for food you sent me, and I am happy to say that they were used right after I received your letter. I was not even hungry at the time, but I was able to get both burgers (Double Quarter Pounders) down. Thank you everything you have done for me. I look forward to reading your response.

Your humble patron,
